Undoubtedly, you’ve heard about Google’s AdSense to make money on the internet, and you are thinking about giving it a go. This article will give you an intro to Google Adsense and why it is one of the best options to start making money online.

The answer about Google Adsense is a definite yes. Websites and advertising on websites is the traditional way to make money. With traditional banner advertising it is not targeted. You could also find affiliate programs to put links on your site. This is viable, but for each page on your site you are still putting just one product for sale. Also the user must buy for you to earn money.

With Adsense, you are paid per click or paid per action. And it is also easy to implement. As opposed to affiliate ads you do not have to find the product yourself.

However, if any page on your site falls outside of these categories, the banners aren’t targeted anymore. And what that means is that you’re potentially showing ads to people who don’t have any interest in them and that can lead to inefficiencies. You would potentially have to find affiliates for each page of content you have.

With Google AdSense that just about never happens: the ads present on your site will always be related to the keywords of your page and as a result be related to whatever it is your readers are looking for.

With traditional advertising and banners and affiliate links, you have to continue to keep your ads relevant as a webmaster. Not so with Google Adsense. Google Adsense acts as the “broker”. It can search in its database of advertisers and match them with your content.

The great thing about Adsense is that Google really made it easy to implement. It can work for just about everyone and for almost any type of site. It is great for the advertisers for which the program is called Adwords. It works great for the web publishers for which the program is called Adsense. And it works great for delivering valuable content to the users in both the content you provide and the content Adsense provides.

What do you need to do from here?

Here are a few steps:

1. You of course need a website to put your ads on. So if you do not have one already, you need to create one. Free websites sometimes do not let you put ads on them so you would need to host your own website and domain which costs $7 to $12 a month.

2. For existing websites, you can modify your existing content. For both existing websites and new websites, you will also want to add new content. For the content you add, first think about what you want to write about. Then use the Google Adwords tools to find what keywords are being searched the most that are related to the content you want to write about. Then target your content with those keywords in mind. The “primary” keyword should be in the article title, introduction, and conclusion. The “related” keywords should be used liberally throughout the article.

3. If you have not already, apply for a Google Adsense account. You will need to submit a site of good quality and good content to increase your chances of approval. After approval, you can add more sites easily.

4. Once approved, you can create Adsense “units”. These units will provide javascript to you to copy an paste to any page on your website you want to display ads on. Furthermore, once approved, you can add Adsense “units” to any website you run.

That is the main procedure. You can also do more as far as generating traffic and building backlinks. Those are intermediate and advanced tactics I will write about later. For now one thing you can do is since you already have articles and content written, you can submit each article to various article directories. In the resource box link the article back to the specific page on your website. This should be a great way to generate traffic to your site.
