TOP 20 Naturalistic Movie Villains Part 4
Part 1 is no longer available here. A bigot may have reported it or flagged it as inappropriate. I suggest seeing the integral Top 20 on Google vids: http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-1453483609755969569
Top 20 most demented, sadistic, evil, menacing, psychopathic badasses from movies. This chart only contains plausible human characters, which have a strong naturalistic side. Don’t expect to see Darth Vader, Voldermort or any other surreal character here (well, except for maybe Jack Torrance, but I have my strong reasons for selecting him).
Here they are:
5. Bill “The Butcher” Cutting (“Gangs of New York”)
4. Captain Vidal (“Pan’s Labyrinth”)
3. Amon Goeth (“Schindler’s List”)
2. Patrick Bateman (“American Psycho”)
1. Surprise!

Cool video indeed.
However, and maybe this is just me, I never really viewed nurse Ratchet as a villian, She always struck me as a needler for protocol and a bit anal. Then again, it’s been years since I last watched cukoo’s nest.

Goeth was evil, but also dispassionate and unfeeling. He supervised murder on an impersonal level. Nurse Ratched is scarier because everything she does is focused to ruin specific people.

Ratched’s supposed motivation of doing “evil for the sake of evil” can probably be best expressed as genuine sadism, when we’re not trying for poetic terms. So supposedly the torturer (using mainly psychological means) is more sadistic than the mass murderer (and commander of other murders). Even if we granted that, would we be convinced by the hypothesis that a character’s motivation (sadism) outweigh their actions (mass murder)?
It seems to me like …
It seems to me like you should brush up on your reading comprehension because the gist of what I meant about Göth vs Ratched is this:
The former supervised and took part in mass murder, the latter terrorized the inmates of an asylum. To put two people like this next to each other and then somehow figure out that the nurse was more evil is obscene.
Are you people …
Are you people really defending Amon Göth? Are you seriously saying that the poor Płaszów concentration camp commander had to take part in genocide?
I’m pretty sure the “only following orders” defense didn’t convince the Nuremberg Tribunal, and neither does it convince me.
